There is probably no other tank that arouses so much curiosity. It is surrounded by an aura of mystery, and facts are mixed with legends that have accumulated over the years. Panzerkampfwagen VIII "MAUS" is a prototype German super-heavy tank from the Second World War. It was the heaviest and largest tank built in history. It weighed approximately 188 tons! The project was implemented in 1942-1944. Only two unfinished prototypes were built and never entered service. In April 1945, the Red Army captured both abandoned Maus prototypes located at the Kummersdorf training ground. A vehicle was assembled with the hull of the first prototype and the turret of the second. This hybrid is still one of the main attractions of the Tank Museum in Kubinka near Moscow.
