History and Construction

Mikoyan-Guriewicz MiG-29 is a Soviet, twin-engine, heavy frontline fighter of the 4th generation with trapezoidal wings. More than 1,000 of these machines were produced between 1977 and 1992, which proves their enormous combat potential. Ranked as one of the 3 or 4 most important fourth-generation fighters in the world, the MiG-29 was designed in the 1970s as a structure with superior combat capabilities to its Western competitors.

Exceptional Combat Capabilities

The MiG-29 is in no way inferior to models such as the F-16, and in many aspects, such as the powerful, two-engine drive, it is superior to its American competitor. Designed for quick service even in field conditions, it can be serviced by mechanics with minimal experience. Engine replacement and testing can be performed in less than an hour by just five mechanics!

In the event of problems with the drive, even a fully loaded MiG-29 can take off using one engine and fire the second one in the air. The permanent armament of the aircraft is a 30mm GSh-301 precision cannon, and external nodes can carry AA-10, AA-11 or AA-8 air-to-air missiles as well as UB-32-57 and S-8K missiles to combat ground targets.

Wide Application

The MiG-29 is in service with the air forces of not only the former Eastern Bloc countries, but also many other users who appreciated its capabilities. Several versions of this successful fighter were created, including:

• MiG-29 (Fulcrum-A): First serial version with S-29 Topaz radar and OEPrNk-29 optoelectronic system.
• MiG-29M (Fulcrum-E): Developmental version with S-29M Żuk radar, more powerful RD-33K engines and fly-by-wire system.
