History and significance of Ilyushin IL-2

Designed and mass-produced in the USSR since 1941, the IL-2 aircraft became one of the most iconic aircraft models of that time. The production of subsequent versions ended only a few years after the war, and a total of about 36,000 of these machines were built. The initial versions suffered from many problems and were replaced in 1942-43 by planes with a two-person crew, more powerful engines and reinforced armament.

COBI Ilyushin IL-2 model

This unique model presents the original wing arrangement, completely different from the slightly later IL-2M3 model, where they had a more aggressive angle of attack. In the West, the plane gained the popular name "Shturmovik".

Ilyushin IL-2 was designed from COBI construction blocks in 1:32 scale using new elements. The model offers many moving parts such as a rotating propeller, movable wing flaps and wheels with rubber tires that can be folded into a horizontal position. Details and historical winter camouflage have been reproduced with extraordinary precision, drawing attention to the blue bottom of the plane.

Cockpit and figures

The cockpit, whose cover has been redesigned, can be opened to place the pilot and gunner figures in the seats. Thanks to a special display base with a plate containing the name of the plane and a place to attach figures, the whole set looks great!
