COBI HC World War II IL-2M3 Shturmovik 625 bricks 5744
- Discover the legendary plane of World War II! The Il-2m3 model made of COBI blocks is perfect fun for young history enthusiasts.
Legendary Combat Plane of World War II
One of the most famous combat aircraft from World War II. Designed and mass-produced in the USSR from 1941. Production of the Il-2 ended a few years after the war. In total, approximately 36,000 of these machines were built. The initial versions were replaced in 1943 by Il-2m3 aircraft with a two-person crew, more powerful engines and reinforced armament. The most important improvement was the change in the angle of attack of the wings, which were made of duralumin. They have acquired a very characteristic shape resembling an "arrow".
Armament of Polish Aviation Regiments
Ił-2m3 planes were the armament of four Polish attack aviation regiments fighting on the Eastern Front in the spring of 1945. On May 1, 1945, there were 158 Il-2m3 in Polish aviation. From 1949, Il-2m3 aircraft were gradually withdrawn from service in Polish aviation, replacing them with more modern Il-10 attack aircraft. The plane exhibited in the museum was used in the 3rd Attack Aviation Regiment.
COBI Block Model
The IL-M3 plane was designed from COBI construction blocks on a scale of 1:32 using new elements. One of the few original planes at the open-air exhibition of the Polish Army Museum in Warsaw was used as a model. The block model offers many movable elements, such as a rotating propeller, movable wing flaps and wheels with rubber tires that can be folded to a horizontal position. The details and post-war colors of the aircraft and armament (including missiles) were reproduced. The blue bottom with checkered patterns attracts attention.
Model Details
The cockpit, whose cover has been redesigned, can be opened to place the pilot and gunner figures in the seats. Thanks to a special display stand with a plate containing the name of the plane and a place to attach figures, the entire set looks great! The figures were based on uniforms from the collections of the Polish Army Museum. A very attractive addition is a historical map showing the borders and name of Poland before the unfavorable territorial exchange with the USSR, which took place on February 15, 1951.
Permanent Prints and Historic Markings
The model uses durable prints and historical markings. The set complements the collection of iconic planes published in 1:32 scale, intended for enthusiasts of history, military technology and enthusiasts of the highest quality block modeling!
